"Dear Community Partner:
Now more than ever, Philadelphia's young people must be prepared to succeed in college and careers. For this reason, Mayor Michael Nutter outlined two bold educational goals in his inaugural address:
- To halve Philadelphia's 45% dropout rate within 5-7 years and
- To double the amount of Philadelphians with four-year baccalaureate degrees over the next 5-10 years
To support the achievement of these goals, Mayor Nutter has made education a top priority for his administration.
On September 11, 2008, Mayor Michael Nutter will be presenting his vision for education and some key strategies to achieve his goals. This event is open to the public and will take place in the auditorium of South Philadelphia High School at 2101 South Broad Street at 6:30 p.m.
RSVP to Ami Patel at ami.d.patel@phila.gov or at 215-686-2169 by September 5, 2008. We look forward to seeing you at this important event.
Sincerely,
Dr. Lori Shorr
Chief Education Officer to the Mayor"
